Welcome to Cam Girl Lounge! |
|
This is the one stop, no B.S. guide to creating and running your own personal or amateur cam site. The articles here have all been written by myself and other camgirls who have been doing this for years, as a hobby or profession. Here we'll talk about the ins and outs of different webcam technologies, the dirt on billing systems, how to promote yourself, and most of all, how to keep it safe, sane, and fun! We each have different goals and interests, so please remember that not all the advice here may apply to you. Most of the content here is available to visitors, however, due to the insider nature of some of the articles, registration and moderator approval are required for access to protected content (marked with a ¤).

Creative launched a handful of new webcams today, including the first webcam I've seen to capture video at high definition (1280x960 pixels). Strangely, they're relying on a CMOS, rather than CCD sensor, so it's uncertain how well this cam will hold up in low light. It takes still images at 5MP (interpolated, 1.3MP actual) and features an ultra wide angle lens at 85 degrees. I'm generally a Logitech girl, but I think I'll have to grab one of these new cams to give it a try! Check out Creative's new webcams at Amazon . |

Not all high speed internet connections are equal. Some services are better suited to camming, and there are more and more alternatives with each passing year. Most of you probably have the same three choices locally – DSL, cable, and dial-up. |

The turnover rate for camgirls is high. Every day it seems like a new girl is closing down her site, only to leave a vague "screw you guys, I'm goin' home" notice. Who is driving these girls away? You've heard about the dangerous denizens of the cam world. Men who will scam you, stalk you, and hunt you down. But that's not who I'm here to talk about. The guys I am about to describe are more benign but much more common. Without further adieu, I present you with the losers of the cam world. It's a jungle out there. |

First, a nod to those who have gone before us -- Cam Mafia, Internet Gossip, Cammunity. These sites (may they rest in peace) all brought the cam community together in their own way. Cam Girl Lounge is taking more of a "textbook" approach than a news/gossip approach. |

Ahh, a camgirl tradition! Back in the day (*gets out cane*), most camgirls didn't actually charge anything for access to their site, or sell specific products or services -- they simply went about their camming ways and waited for "tips" and "gifts" to come in. This worked quite well for a lot of girls, particularly when webcams were a real novelty. It's not so common anymore, since most cam viewers have been there, seen that, and don't give money or gifts for "nothing". |
