Ahh, a camgirl tradition! Back in the day (*gets out cane*), most camgirls didn't actually charge anything for access to their site, or sell specific products or services -- they simply went about their camming ways and waited for "tips" and "gifts" to come in. This worked quite well for a lot of girls, particularly when webcams were a real novelty. It's not so common anymore, since most cam viewers have been there, seen that, and don't give money or gifts for "nothing". |

Here is a look at a billing service called PayMonde. They have an attractive lack of start-up costs, and appear to have low rates, but actually end up with some of the highest per-transaction costs when the numbers are added up. |

Please read this before continuing to the detailed financial analyses of the online billing services. I created these tables in order to show you the real costs of accepting payments online. Not only can the base rates be misleading, but the credit card processor that's right for you may be completely wrong for someone in a different situation. It depends on volume, average transaction amount, and how much you can afford up front. For example, in one scenario I ran, a popular processor that charges a 11.5% base rate actually ends up having 49% of your money for the first six months! This is an extreme case, but these analysis tables will show you that there is more to these fees than what may initially appear. |

This article features a financial analysis of using Verotel TicketsClub as your credit card processing service. They offer a base rate of 14.5%, however, you will see in this table that in many situations, your actual net profit can be much lower. TicketsClub is one of the simplest and lowest start-up cost billing services, but all memberships and transactions must be routed through their central site, so you run a much higher risk of confusing visitors and losing customers. |

It’s very easy to overlook the additional charges you will encounter when accepting credit cards online. I’ve been sucked in before with promises of a lower rate, only to find out that it wasn’t quite as good as it seemed in practice. There are several types of fees you’ll see when evaluating potential credit card processing services. Not all companies use all of these categories (thank goodness), but you’ll likely see several of these in combination: |

There's also the old-fashioned way of accepting money from people – through the mail. You could have people send checks, money orders, or even cash. I'd discourage the last one. Even if you make sure the person conceals it well and offer no guarantees, it's still bound to cause unpleasantries if it doesn't arrive. |
