Post office box or remailing service? PDF Print E-mail

Something you should consider getting is a post office box or remailing service.  A PO box allows you to have mail sent to an address other than your home, where you can pick it up on a regular basis.
Some wishlists keep your address private, but of course this doesn't help if you want people to be able to mail you gifts or letters directly.  Also some sites that have wishlists, particularly those where you can add items from multiple sites, require you to publish an address.

The cost varies depending on the size and your location.  They are usually most expensive in urban areas.  It ranges from about $20-80/year in the U.S. for a small box.  You really don't need anything other than the smallest box, because they will simply hold anything larger behind the counter for you.  Use USPS's site to find the centers nearest you.

Keep in mind that not all items can be shipped to a PO box.  They will not accept courier shipments or where something needs to be signed for.  If you want a more full-service mailing address, where they can accept deliveries and re-mail your items for you, look for a remailing service.  They are usually a bit more expensive, plus the cost of having your mail re-sent, but you can also use them as a real business address by referencing the box as a "suite" or "unit."  Depending on the amount and type of mail you expect to receive, and what your business goals are, a PO box or remailer is a very good way to protect your privacy.
