First of all, let’s define a webcam – it’s a camera hooked up to your computer that takes pictures at a regular interval and updates them on a website, or allows you to broadcast a video image of yourself to another person/site.

The term “camgirl” can have a lot of different meanings, depending on who you talk to.  It can mean anything from someone who has a blog site with a webcam they occasionally upload a picture to, to someone who does private sex shows on cam full time.  This site covers a variety of these meanings.

Some camgirls do shows in exchange for payment on instant messaging programs like Yahoo Messenger.  Some have a website where people pay a certain fee to access photos and videos.  Some don’t offer services themselves, but use website traffic to generate an income using affiliate programs.  There are a lot of fun things to do with a webcam, many of which can be used to earn money as well.
